Even in a scene as vibrant as that which currently percolates in
Brooklyn, Savoir Adore's dense, lush slant on pop stands alone. A
self-coined "fantasy rock" duo, Savoir Adore released an EP,
The
Adventures of Mr. Pumpernickel and the Girl with Animals in Her
Throat, in 2008 after signing to the
Cantora label
-- home of likeminded neo-psychedelic group MGMT. Although the
group records as a pair (Paul Hammer, Deidre Muro), the dual
vocalists round out their live sound with a three-piece backing
band. Well-received by notoriously fickle New York music press,
Savoir Adore have drawn favorable comparisons to Postal Service,
Broken Social Scene and Phoenix. The band released their
full-length debut,
In the Wooded Forest, in late 2009. In
advance of a two week run through the UK, the "Bodies" single
dropped on May 18, and includes two remixes (French Horn Rebellion,
Midnight Magic) as well as a
self-directed music video.
“Definitely one of my bands to watch” - Brooklyn Vegan
“Savoir Adore are one of these bands who have proved themselves
serious contenders for the title of ‘Most Underrated Band in
Brooklyn'” - Free Williamsburg
“Sometimes demos and promo disc piles on the desk can be
intimidating ... so we're late on this Brooklyn [five]-piece, but
right on time in my book. Their full-length, 'In The Wooded
Forest' is superb.” - WOXY
