SHARE THIS... for the Guggenheim performance, Bird is collaborating with sculptor, inventor and luthier Ian Schneller of Specimen Products, to present Andrew Bird & Ian Schneller's Sonic Arboretum, an audiovisual landscape featuring functional audio sculptures scattered about the rotunda floor, through which sound will be projected skyward.
Alone, the Sonic Arboretum sculptures vaguely resemble a combination of Victrola speakers and plant life, while the cumulative effect is meant to evoke a symphonic field of poppies, a prairie of sound, a forest floor of hornlings -- all part of its ecosystem.
Guggenheim member presale June 28, 9am Eastern; general onsale June 29, 9am Eastern.
